This is good stuff. This is the name of an orange spiced after-dinner digestive aperitif I found on the isle of Syros in
Greece. It even comes in a little amphora like bottle with tiny handles and a cork.
It would seem that many of the islands have their own specialties, which are often difficult, if not impossible to find elsewhere. I've tried several searches on
Google (English) &
Google (Greek); but I'm coming up empty handed. I've tried the searches as extended ASCII, as lower (what should be standard to Greek) ASCII, and partials in case conjugations are a factor. I know that I didn't get the second word to translate properly on
Babel Fish yet. I believe it is supposed to translate as "The Taste of Grand Mother" (or more colloquially as To Grandmother's Taste, meaning that's who would like it most).
It has some manufacturer information on it, but it's in Greek as well. I haven't tried calling them yet to see if the speak English and can ship to the USA. I usually assume one has to go through some customs agent or distributor first, though maybe I'm wrong. I guess next I will try to search for the Manufacterer using key words.
Do any of my LJ friends speak Greek or have any ideas on how I could obtain more of this fine beverage, short of traveling to Syros again (not that I would mind going there again)?
