Red Badge of Courage

The office and most of downtown is awash with red "I Voted" stickers. Yeah! I voted this morning and the lines were not bad. According to the machine which sucks up the ballots, I was voter #488 at my location. It only took about 30 minutes. I got an SMS of hope from a friend in the United Kingdom. Now I just have to try to not watch the news ( Read more... )

I was thinking of NOT-watching, myself, until next week sometime. Last time was SOOOOO frustrating.

It's one of the reasons I've become such an avid NOT-watcher of many things. And with the time-saving features of actively NOT-watching, I've been able to read more. And that goes well with the Olympic sport I'm trying to promote: Stationary Luge.

I bought that book yesterday as I had never read it. It's weird you should choose that phrase. We didn't get stickers when we voted. But it was 6 AM, so the poll folks were probably less than thrilled ot see us.

Anyway, I'm trying to not think about it until the polls are closed. No use getting worked up over it until you actually can know something.

It's just the way everyone wears them with such pride. I updated the entry with an LJ Icon sized image of the sticker. I should scare up a synopsis of the book to make sure I haven't made a grievous mis-association. I know I read or saw it years ago, but it's plot eludes me at the moment.

Oh! I found a synopsis. Yup, it fits. This election is like a war to many people, some to the point of being good versus evil. Good to know my hunches aren't totally off just yet. I like it when I can be rather clever with only a little effort. Let me know how you like it. Another book to read would be "Starship Troopers" by Robert Heinlein (but know that the movie based upon the book just action/adventure CGI eye candy that uses the plot for context and does nothing to convey the main point of the book).

I liked the movie but haven't read the book. I'll put it on my list. :-)

I love when I can make a good reference - though I feel like no one notices a lot of the time. That almost makes me feel cooler LOL
