When did being a gentlemen become sexist? They call it benevolent sexism and it includes stuff like opening a door for a woman, pulling out her chair for her, or standing when she enters a room. I think that is crap. When a man opens a door for me I am happy and do not think, "you bastard, how dare you try to make me feel incompetent, I'll open my ( Read more... )

Well, I like anyone opening doors for me... for example, in high school, there were many days when I would strategically position myself behind you in the morning so you would open the door for me. However, I think things like pulling out a chair would be a bit weird.

Then again, I also like trying to crush little boys' masculinity by opening doors for them, carrying things for them, or pointing out how I fix everything in the house. Bwahaha!!!

I enjoy messing with gender norms too, but I still don't think that opening a door is sexist. And I loved whenever we were with someone else we would wait for them to open the door. Sometimes literally wait and stare until they opened the door. That was fun.

Haha, that was quite priceless. Whoever was the new person riding with us had to open the door. Such a neat little pecking order :)

Theory: If you are lazy enough, someone else WILL do it for you (unless you are too lazy to shower. That's a problem).

Showering is always a nice thing to do, for the sake of yourself and others.

I love it when guys do things for me, especially opening doors and carrying things. Most of my guy friends open doors for me or take my coat or hand me my coat off of a coat hook when cases call for it, and I think it's kinda nice. And at work Peter always carries heavy stuff or climbs the ladder and I <3 him for it.

The people that dislike it can just open their own doors and push their own entertainment centers across the room.
