thanks joe.
the past week has felt about 17 days long. i worked a SHITLOAD it seems, even though i had both tuesday and wednesday off. tuesday i went downtown to the Dallas Public Library with my aunt so we could work on genealogy stuff together. it sounds incredibly boring but it was actually really interesting to me. ive learned how to look up birth and death certificates, that you cant really trust census records, and that there's so much information out there about people who lived like 150 years ago that it scares me how much our descendants will be able to know about us given the internet and all the other technology we have right now. i also learned how to use microfilm and microfiche. it was just like those mystery boooks i read when i was a kid, how nancy drew would find a huge clue while she was looking through newspaper archives on microfilm, but then someone would (unsuccessfully) try and kill her in the library parking lot so the secret could ever be revealed. i also went to "dinner" with all my aunt's library friends (i say "dinner" because we ate at 3:30, the preferred dinner time of 50 and 60 year olds everywhere), which was really fun. one of the guys just got done being investigated for murder. holler.
wednesday lauren and i went on a date. we saw Madagascar. i think i laughed once. afterwards we went to my restaurant and ate a deliiiicious meal where i almost choked and died. id tell you the story but it's not that good. all you need to know is that im still alive. hooray.
i worked doubles on thursday, friday, and saturday. talk about PAIN. i cannot even explain to you how badly my feet hurt after 13 hours at work. you know when you see an old lady who definitely didnt drink her milk as a kid so now she has a hunchback and instead of being 5 feet tall when she walks, she's only about 4 foot 2? ok that's how i walk at the end of the day. it's sickening. i also did nerve damage to my foot somehow, so right now i dont exactly have any feeling in one of my toes. hopefully that's not permanent. ANYWAYS, on friday night after i got off work i went out to denton and hung out at my friend drew's sweet apartment til like 4 in the morning. if the summer is teaching me one thing, it's that i am getting the short end of the stick by living in a dorm. if the winter commute to campus wasnt so unappealing, id definitely consider moving off.
other than that: another one of my aunts and her two kids got into town yesterday and will be living here for all of july (they live in colorado and spend a few weeks here every summer). so all the peace, quiet, and solitude i have enjoyed all summer are now officially over until august. but it's not such a high price to pay since i love my aunt to death and we alwas have a great time together. for instance, when she got here yesterday and saw me hobbling around like an old woman on crutches, she immediately took me to get a pedicure. and then tried to buy me a $130 hair straightener. and then took me to dinner. so i think im going to like having her here for awhile.
im verrrry excited because christa comes back this week. although i will be sad to give her car back to her (which i have been borrowing for the last 5 weeks), i will be happy to get to hang out with my roomie again. alright im outta here. today we're going out on the lake, watching the entire 5-hour-long version of Pride and Prejudice, and eating dinner at my restaurant. it could be the most perfect day ever.
c ya.
