I’m kinda regretting my decision to blog everyday of the Galápagos as I’m feeling kinda blogged out now and there is still more to say that keeps piling up everyday, but this is the last day of the Galápagos at least.
So the morning before our flight back to the mainland, we went stayed on Santa Cruz but went to Bachas beach. The U.S. had a military base there during World War II, and the name “bachas” comes from the mispronunciation of barges. There were rusting pieces of metal still sticking up from the sand.
The sand is made up of crushed coral so it is white and soft and full of sea turtle nests.
A flock of boobies.
Then we went to this little lagoon where there were just a few flamingos, but one of them was a baby, so it was more grey than pink. I thought he looked really cool.
Oh, and the black feathers of the flamingo (even the pink ones have it under their wings) is to help retain some heat.
Thank you Jose, for ruining what would have been an awesome shot.

Adiós las islas Galápagos, las extraño mucho.
