You may have noticed that I have been very quiet lately. That is because I have been in the hospital six times in nine months. The last stay,which I did mention last month, lasted 18 days. They have been for unrelated events, but it is obvious that after fighting the lupus for 40 years my body is starting to wear out. The 13 prescriptions a day might be a hint. Or the fact that I cannot roll over in bed without being unable to breathe. This isn’t fatal - I hope - lupus usually kills when it strikes the kidneys and mine are excellent. (The doctor told me the hospital was impressed with my kidneys.) However, it has struck many organs.
Lupus, you may know, is related to MS and Rheumatoid Arthritis. MS attacks the nerves, RA the joints, and lupus the soft or connective tissue. I have it in my brain, heart, lungs, spleen, pancreas, liver and large intestine. I am always tired these days (one person once compared it to spending all day walking through a swimming pool of Jello) and achy. Did I mention the fibromyalgia? I also get confused easily due to the inflammation of the brain.
So, what does this mean? It means I just can’t do LJ and the other tasks anymore. Someone either needs to take them over or we will just have to let them die.
What do I do?

- mfu_weekly: I am still the owner. elmey has been occasionally helping out kanders07 and me. I have been very sloppy as to posting on time, but honestly I'm not even sure if people know when it comes out. And when I'm ill we miss days so that the next editor gets a double newsletter to do. We desperately need someone to be an assistant on mfu_weekly and do some of the newsletters. mfu_shortstorie could use someone to replace or supplement me, although when I am healthy that is one task I usually manage.
Some of the other items, all of which I need to remove myself from:
- database of Live Journal stories by author
- database of Live Journal stories by title
- database of Live Journal videos
I still need to add most of LJ and File40 and some other sites, then look for broken links and updates.
- Guide to reference sources - this is a list I have been keeping that I developed as a librarian, originally for betas to use for grammar but it now also has items for authors. Good for background, canon, word usage and many other things.
- Guide to language helpers. A database on mfuwss that tells you who to contact when you need help using a language. It has an amazing number of languages and cultures listed.
- Expertise Database on mfuwss: Got an esoteric question? Out of your depth? Need background or resource for a story. Here it is!
