Went to the Front Range Pythoneers meetup after work today. There was supposed to be a talk on TurboGears 2, as a followup to the sprint last weekend, but the person who was to give it couldn't make it, so we just had a lot of ad hoc discussion. I learned that there are Python bindings for the OGRE 3D library. I'll have to grab it and play around with it at some point.
Also saw a demo of an awesome project by a grad student at CU, who is using a webcam to track the user's facial movements in real-time and use them to drive the mouse pointer. Obviously, this is great for anybody with limited or no ability to use an actual mouse or trackball. As I understand it, there is already commercial software to do this, but it relies on expensive equipment, whereas he was just using the standard low-res webcam built into his laptop.
Tonight seems like an excellent night for curling up with a cocoa porter and just relaxing. Of course, Leo doesn't seem to grasp the concept that it's 10 degrees outside, and he's bouncing off the walls, constantly wanting to be let out and immediately back in. So actual relaxation is a bit difficult right now, but I'll manage.
