I wonder the most bizarre, random things about The Hunger Games series.

For instance, the scene where Clove and Katniss face off at the Cornucopia during the feast. I'm pretty sure everyone could tell Clove was planning on killing Katniss in the slowest, most torturous way, and she didn't seem to have any reservations on doing that. So my question is, what were her parents thinking when they were watching her? Would they have been rooting for her, or would they be horrified at what their daughter was doing? My guess is the former--since District 2 is full of kids clamoring to have a chance at the "glory" of winning the Hunger Games and since they are supposedly on the best terms with the Capitol. But seriously, watching your kid become a ruthless killing machine...would any parent want that?

I also got to pondering on the size of the districts. It's mentioned in the book that District 12 is one of the smallest ones, but it's got to be seriously tiny. Since everything seems to be in Katniss' immediate area--the Justice Building and town square where the reapings are held, in particular. Would people have to travel from other small towns for the reaping, or is everyone pretty much crammed together? I kind of pictured it like a giant wheel, with the Justice Building in the center and the merchant area surrounding it, and then the Seam being like the outskirts of the city, close to the fence. But exactly how much territory would it cover? Only a few miles? Several hundred miles?
