Samsø højskole, day 3

May 19, 2010 21:38

Today was the touring day, where we got to go by bus to the northern part of the island, which, unsurprisingly, is also very pretty. More a rugged, windblown kind of pretty, but still with utterly charming houses all over. Curious spotting on the way: A little trawler-like boat carried the original American flag, the one with the stars in a circle. We didn't get to talk with them, though.

quaryn_dk did go on the bus tour, but was plagued by severe shoulder pain the entire way, so she didn't go on the short bike ride in the afternoon. Possibly a good thing, as we hit a huge farm shop - basically an entire two lengths of barn converted into densely filled shop. Other than that, just another lovely day of biking thru' the green.

In the evening, we tested how quaryn_dk would do on a bike, but the pressure on the shoulder was definitely bad. So she's going to go back in the morning and try to get some massage to make it better, and then find her previous physical therapist, who was a lot better at dealing with shoulder problems. Very sad to have to cut it short like this.

Now with pictures:

I can't imagine somebody sailing across from the US in this little fishing boat, so there must be some other reason for the flag.

Nordby. Possibly the most idyllic village in the world. The apparently live from tourism alone. The entire center of town has hardly any shops, I only saw two nicely camouflaged touristy places. The real shops must be on the outskirts.
