Yes, it sounds like an oxymoron to my ears, but we actually did on the order of six hours of shopping today (mostly within one mall!) and I didn't get horribly exhausted from it. This mostly because we weren't really shopping for our own money, but with the money we'll get from the insurance company for covering our lost luggage. Thus we just knew that we had a fair sum available - we still went "that's outrageous" at some items, but we got a number of interesting things that we otherwise would have been getting only over several years, if at all.
Most importantly, we got a new suitcase, this one a nifty new (and recognizable) design - can be used as a duffel bag, a rolly bag or even a big backpack. Makes me want to go out in the wilderness but without having to carry my home on my back in the train and when walking in the city. Plus is has really well padded handles. Rock.
I also got a selection of cool shirts that I'll be starting to include in my everyday wear. Much as I enjoyed my 13 years of studenthood, 38 years is about time to look a little less like a student.
Also got great boots with Vibram soles. Supposed to last a lot longer than the usual soles, which is great since my usual shoes (which are high quality to begin with) tend to break the sole right under the balls of my feet within one or two years. Dunno why.
quaryn_dk also got many nifty items which I will leave it to her to gush about.
