so i am royally pissed off and royally screwed at the same time.
last night i found out that my experimental class had been combined with the other one because no enough students were taking it. ok, that's cool, whatever. the new combined class was taking place at the teacher who i was taking the class with, Benenson's time slot. i figured, neat, everybody wins. yeah, no, turns out everyone got fucking screwed over. its not Benenson who is teaching the class anymore, oh no, its fucking Jonna. JONNA. FUCKING JONNA.
So why am i so pissed off by this change?
well first off, i bent over backwards making sure that i got Benenson as a teacher. number one is she a reasonable teacher. second she is a GOOD teacher. you know, someone who actually teaches you the goddamn material. Jonna on the other hand, basically feeds you to the wolves. "here take this set of problems, which you have never seen before in your life, and do them using this formula which you have never ever been taught. then we'll go over them in class" WHAT?! how can you expect me to do this homework without teaching me the fucking material?!?!
Secondly Benenson's experimental class required you to do an experiment and a 5-10 page paper. or basically an average journal article. Jonna makes you write a 40 page paper and does not require an experiment. The class is called EXPERIMENTAL psychology. what the fuck is the point in taking it if you're not going to EXPERIMENT?
No, instead she makes you write about a topic (of your choice) that has been written about and already been experimented on a dozen times in the past. Then expects you to make up an imaginary experiment, tell how you would do it, and tell her what the possible outcomes MAY be. Instead of finding out for yourself. But that would be helpful, which is something Jonna is totally against.
as if i didn't already have enough panic attacks about Quantitative Methods. I fucking hate Jonna with every ounce of my being. she's a nice person, but she is a shit-tastic teacher.
and i was getting all excited about what to do my experiment on and actually LEARN something from the experience. Did I mention you would gain experience in the experimental field? yeah, you may become an expert on the subject, but that means shit in the real world. so you can write a book about the subject, but can you carry it out in a real life experiment?
expertise< experience (in my humble opinion)
this is going to suck
