[A) Crowe is out for a walk today, looking exhausted as he sometimes does. Nightmares have been back after the zombie incident, so he hasn't been sleeping well. He yawns as he casually tosses papers to people's houses... but they're not going where they should be. They might be heading through your window, into the garden or right for your head ( Read more... )

only muscles can save me, hurray for new distractions, too much trauma, oh god so tired, how i cook food, old habits die hard

[Silence hasn't gotten around to taking the obvious route to getting his arm back; he knows Lucas and Crowe know exactly what he might try to do, and he'd rather keep it from them if he can. And perhaps it's just his imagination, but Lucas seems to be keeping an unusually close eye on him...he can't tell if it's suspicion or solicitousness.

Either way, when he opens the door, the arm is still missing, and his left sleeve is pinned up carefully at the elbow. However, he looks much better otherwise, having had time to recover, and he smiles brightly at Crowe, stepping back automatically to let him inside.]

[That bright smile is returned, and Crowe walks in.]

H-Hey, I decided to stop by and... Um, I-I thought I would stop in to see how you and Lucas were doing, a-and I thought I'd bring by some dinner too...

[He holds up the paper bag.]

[Still stammering, Silence can't help but notice. He's not sure if that's awkwardness due to himself, awkwardness due to Crowe being Crowe, or just awkwardness thanks to the lack of things to say to someone you'd watched perform an amputation on themselves a few days ago. Either way, his smile softens a bit at the concern, and he looks genuinely pleased by the dinner; he's quite a good cook, but cooking has been significantly harder recently - for obvious reasons. He gestures for Crowe to follow him into the dining room and indicates for him to set the bag on the table, then pulls out his notebook and sets it on the table as well so he can write one-handed.]

STAY FOR DINNER?

Ah, thanks, that'd be great. Um, I'm not a great cook o-or anything, but I'm trying to learn. I hope it's okay.

[Crowe's a mediocre cook, but he's been trying hard to learn since being in Mayfield. He's a better baker, and inside along with some dishes of baked chicken and mashed potatoes is a tin of home made sugar cookies.]

[Silence's eyes light up a bit at this.] COULD HELP TEACH YOU? SELF-TRAINED, BUT GREW UP IN FRANCE. [Hundreds of years ago. France isn't even an established region anymore...and he's temporarily forgotten that Crowe's world might not ever have had a France, past or present.] AND SELF-TRAINED MEANS A LOT WHEN YOU HAVE CENTURIES TO TRAIN IN. [His grin at this suggests he's poking fun at himself. Mystics tend to be good at any number of things, just because they have so much free time in which to become skilled at anything that happens to capture their interest long enough.]

[He smiles at that.] French cooking, eh? Sounds good to me. France has wonderful food. And I'm sure you could out-cook me in your sleep, so I'd be glad for the help.

[Silence smiles brightly at this; the confirmation that Crowe is actually familiar with France and its food only pleases him more, much more so than the compliment he's been given. (Which he figures is just Crowe being humble again, anyway.)] WILL GIVE ME SOMETHING TO DO. GETS BORING AROUND HERE SOMETIMES...WHEN NOT DEALING WITH POISONOUS MILK AND HORDES OF UNDEAD.

[Which reminds him...he glances down at his left arm, specifically where it ends at the elbow.] MAY NEED TO FIX THIS FIRST. [This is an entirely matter-of-fact observation on his part, but it's made dark by context. There really is only one way to fix maiming in Mayfield...barring going to someone like Hiccup for a prosthetic.]

A-Ah, yeah... There's o-only one real way to fix that in Mayfield, I-I'm afraid. [Crowe's smile fades into worry. It doesn't matter if you resurrect in Mayfield the next day - he's died enough times to know that it's awful every time, that it never gets easier. At least it seems that way to him]

[Silence smiles slightly at this, shrugging in a rather matter-of-fact, what-can-you-do sort of way. He's died before, after all. The only real difficulty in doing so again - and intentionally - is making sure Crowe and Lucas aren't traumatized in the process. They're both deeply invested in his well-being, and Silence doesn't want to distress them as a result of that.]

GIVE ME A WEEK. WILL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT.

[Crowe nods solemnly.] You do what you have to do.
