JUSTIN DIED WHILE RIDING HIS BIKE ON DRUMMOND AND 9TH STREET IN HIGHLAND ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 22, 2008. A POLICE CAR HIT HIM WHILE GOING ON A DISTURBANCE CALL IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. JUSTIN WAS THROWN OFF OF HIS BIKE 40 FEET AND WAS UNABLE TO RECOVER FROM HIS INJURIES. JUSTIN PASSED AWAY DURING THE EARLY HOURS OF WEDNESDAY MORNING.
THE DAY THAT HE WAS HIT, JUSTIN HAD JUST COMPLETED HIS FIRST DAY AS A FRESHMAN AT SAN GORGONIO HIGH SCHOOL. HE HAD COME HOME FROM SCHOOL AND SPENT SOME TIME WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND BEFORE HEADING OVER TO DRUMMOND STREET WHERE THE ACCIDENT OCCURED.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT, HIS FAMILY HELD A MEMORIAL SERVICE AT THE SITE OF THE ACCIDENT. A BICYCLE WAS PLACED INTO THE GROUND SERVING AS A MONUMENT TO THE YOUNG BOY. CANDLES WERE LIT, WORDS FROM FAMILY MEMBERS WERE SPOKEN AND MANY TEARS SHED.
THIS YOUNG BOY SPENT AN ENTIRE SUMMER WHILE HE WAS 8 YEARS OLD, RAISING MONEY FROM MOWING YARDS TO BUY A GIRL HE KNEW A BICYCLE. HIS PARENTS FONDLY TELL OF ANOTHER INCIDENT WHERE A BOY JUSTIN KNEW, ONLY HAD A PAIR OF BOWLING SHOES TO WEAR TO SCHOOL AND INSTEAD OF LETTING THE BOY WEAR THOSE SHOES, JUSTIN USED MONEY THAT HE HAD SAVED TO GET THE BOY A PAIR OF GOOD SNEAKERS SO THAT HE WOULDN'T BE MADE FUN OF AT SCHOOL.
MANY OF JUSTIN'S FRIENDS CONSIDER IT A BLESSING THAT THEY KNEW HIM. HE SPENT MOST OF HIS TIME IN THE GARAGE AT HIS HOME BUILDING BICYCLES. hE LOVED BUILDING BICYCLES, BEING WITH HIS FAMILY AND SPENDING TIME WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND. HE WAS A 14 YEAR OLD BOY WITH MANY GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS AHEAD OF HIM. HIS LIFE CUT SHORT DOING WHAT HE LOVED, RIDING A BIKE.
WHILE MANY PEOPLE THAT KNOW OF THIS SITUATION ARE LEFT TO COUNT THEIR BLESSINGS AND ABLE TO GO HOME TO THEIR LOVED ONES, JUSTIN'S FAMILY IS LEFT WITH A UNREPLACEABLE VOID IN THEIR LIVES.
IF YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW IS PLANNING ON GOING OUT TO LUNCH OR DINNER TOMORROW...MAKE IT APPLEBEE'S. IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE AND A GREAT REMINDER TO OUR CHILDREN NOT ONLY TO WEAR A HELMET BUT TO LOOK TWICE WHEN CROSSING THE STREET.
JUSTIN SHOWN HERE WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND SELENA.

In Loving Memory of Justin Ames.

"When my time comes,
Forget the wrong that I've done,
Help me leave behind some,
Reasons to be missed...
Don't resent me,
And when you're feeling empty,
Keep me in your memory.
Leave out all the rest....Leave out all the rest."
