Hopefully the last math questions i have before school actually starts :-P
1. for the graph f(x)=(x^3+5x-4)/(x(x-1)), is there actually an oblique asymptote, or am i imagining it, and if there is, why can't i find it?
2. In the accompanying diagram. BD is tangent to circle O at B. BC is a chord and BOA is a diameter. If arc AC: arcCB = 1:4 find angle DBC.
I got 72 degrees based on a rule i made up because it sounds like it could be true... i don't know
3. An airplane traveling at a level altitude of 2050 feet signts the top of a 50-foot tower at an angle of depression of 28 degress from point A. After continuing in level flight to point B The angle of depression to the same tower is 34 degrees. Find to the nearest foot the distance that the plane traveled from point A to point B.
(sorry for posting math pictures in our gallery... it's modern art!)
EDIT: i thought i could find it online but i can't... what's an abcissae?
