So, I'm A Writer...

...but, you wouldn't really know it, what, with my abundance of fill-in-the-blank surveys and infrequent updates. You'd think a writer would want to share her thoughts with the world -- or the tiny microcosm of the world that is whatever blogging community to which she is registered -- but, I haven't had time for any of that:

- I graduated in May, aftering balancing 120%-full course load with an internship and a new serving job every three weeks.

- I found a pretty sweet job only a month after graduation, but the two-hour commute left me only enough time to cook, eat, shower and prepare clothes for the next day.

- I still have the same great boyfriend, who I visited almost every night after work, thus having to shrink my nightly routine into the hour-long time slot in which back-to-back Seinfeld episodes run on Fox.

- Now, I've just completed my first move out of my parents' house, which was frightening, exhilarating, nerve-wracking and liberating. I miss my parents more than I wanted to believe I would when I convinced them that I didn't need their help moving on September 1st.

But, I'm not completely alone in my new apartment. I live with my boyfriend, who, after being ejected, in a way, from his aunt and uncle's shed, he was pursuaded into taking the leap into domestic bliss about half a year earlier than we had planned.
Now, I'm just getting back into the swing of things, but my writing style has come a long way from the angst-laden teenage ranting that my short stories were full of back in the day -- or at least, I hope. I soak up technique like the literary sponge that I've been taught to be for the past 4 years, so everyday, I'm going to write a little bit in this journal and track my progress, and see if I can reach my goal of getting published in a literary journal by this time next year.
