ろば3 (Jackass 3)

Well well well. You've probably noticed that a fair number of my more recent posts have been dedicated to Nikkei and the greatness that is my students. But things aren't completely kosher in the land of business college. While my Japanese students are very beloved in my eyes right now, the Japanese staff members at Nikkei don't get the same level of affection from me (mostly because I don't get it from them), and one person in particular is at the top of my shit list. I can't drop his real name, but let's just call him Jackass-san. Jackass-san has been a problem down at Nikkei and Naha-ko since day one. My boss even warned my Naha-ko partner in crime and I when we started working down there way back when, but we had no idea about the kind of fucked up shit he would be pulling over the weeks to come. Well you live and you learn kids...you live and you learn.

What kind of shit has Jackass-san been doing to deserve an entire post dedicated him? Well let's see...For starters, Naha-ko is a brand new branch of the eikawa I work for that is dedicated to teaching students who want to pass the TOEFL and TOEIC tests (as well as eiken, which is a test for Japanese people to see how proficient they are at English). Think of us as like the Kaplan of Okinawa. Anyway, we've only gotten one student since we opened and the goal is to get 50 by the end of the year. We've had others come in and get free lessons, but usually there was something about it they didn't like. Maybe we sucked ass as teachers, maybe the price was too high, maybe they couldn't figure out how to fit classes into their schedules...who the hell knows. Anyway, Jackass-san who works at Nikkei and is also somewhat involved in Naha-ko has been harassing us almost daily about how many students we have and what we plan to do to get more students. Actually, I shouldn't say us because my co-worker has had to deal with him single-handedly really. At first it was just a minor nuisance, but things have really escalated recently to the point where my co-worker speaks with him and the color just drains out her face. He says so many things that are just off base and wrong that I'm pretty sure it's driving her to the point of wanting to just quit. For example, the other day he called her on her cell phone and said that me and her were "cocky", called her lazy, thinks we're not good teachers and don't have any experience (well, the no experience part is true at least...), and a whole bunch of other things. And this isn't even the first time he's called her to say things like this. Mind you, he hasn't even seen one class that we've taught or even a second of one class we've taught. All he sees is student numbers and assumes it's because we're supposedly shitty teachers. Not the fact that maybe people just don't know about that we exist, or that the price might be too high for some people, or that the location might suck because free parking is practically non-existent in Naha (trust me, free parking really does matter to people).

I'm just sorry that my co-worker has to put up with that, and in typical Japanese fashion doesn't kirk out on his ass. If it was me I would have gone straight up 9th St. on a motherfucker, because I hate when people talk shit and don't have any facts to back it up. I think the next time I see him I'll let him know what's up. People like that really need to be put in their place, and he's not even our boss. And it'd really be some shit if my co-worker left because of one dude's shitty attitude.
