それらが今あるところ (Where Are They Now?
January 15th, 2013. A day that will live in infamy. On this day in history, three of my closest friends/team members simultaneously quit to pursue other options: former team leader, Naho, as well as streetwear aficionado, Ryo, and Tumblr addict, Steph. Clearly the three of them knew something I didn't, because the poo poo hit the fan almost immediately after they left, and things just haven't been (nor will they ever be) the same since.
Naho went on to do some temp work at a company in the same building one floor down from us. Sneaky. But what have Ryo and Steph been up to?
Lots of mid-afternoon drinking, as it turns out.
Ryo is on his way to Australia in a couple of days, and in honor of that him and Steph invited me to a picnic they were throwing in Shintoshin Park. A picnic involved the three of us, crackers, cream cheese, salmon sashimi, ham, and plenty of alcohol. It felt kind of weird to be knocking back chu-hais and guzzling wine in the middle of the afternoon, but hey. Maybe all those kids walking by from the nearby pre-school weren't judging me. Maybe they were just staring because they were trying to figure out if it cool to walk over and touch my hair or not. Or maybe they wanted us to share...Who knows. I'm not child whisperer or something.
Here's hoping Ryo has a safe trip over to the land down under. May no dingos eat his baby (he doesn't have...yet). Here's also hoping my future self has the wherewithal not to drink again while the sun is still out. It's all good in theory, but blacking out around 3pm after one too many cans of 8% goodness is not what's up.
