I went down to Kokusai last night with MaryAnn and her friends Lucia and Holly. They're ALTs from Fukui vacationing down here in our sub-tropical paradise. We had planned on spending their last night on the island chowing down on taco rice at Charlie's Taco's, but since that placed turned out to be closed when we got down there, we instead headed north up Kokusai to pay Sand's a visit.
Along the way we got hella distracted by purikura. You never realize how serious people take purikura until you see a ton of kids decked out in Harajuku type gear taking zillions of pictures. Hmm...maybe that's why my parents never gave me an allowance. They knew exactly what I would have done with it.
Thanks, touristy crap vendors. Now I'll never be able to eat a chinsuko cookie again without thinking of baby penises.
As soon as we got to Sand's MaryAnn noticed this sign not too far off in the distance. Red Lobster! So...it actually does exist. What to do....what to do....? Stay at Sand's, or take the short walk to Red Lobster and possibly be disappointed by the lack of Cheddar Bay Biscuits? A quick janken battle ensued and Red Lobster came out victorious. Maybe that's how I should've chose whether to stay in Okinawa or not.
Stepped through the doors and what do ya know? It was closing time. Thwarted, and just when I had begun to warm up to the idea of a Red Lobster slightly different than the one I knew and loved back home (Alternate Universe Red Lobster?).
This is definitely the nicest Red Lobster I've seen. Sitting outside at night on Kokusai eating scrimp and drinking Pepsi would be the perfect way to spend a night before the winter comes rolling in. Who's down?
