死体泥棒の侵入 (Invasion of the Body Snatchers)

When Di-Chan, Tamara, and J. Ho showed up in Yonabaru Town late last month, I started to think that maybe, just maybe, I'd gone to sleep and woken up in an alternate universe version of the Okinawa I once knew. The resemblances to JETs that just left/one who is still here are kind of striking. Di-Chan is very much the Fijian Sammy. They look similar, dress similar, and are both very much down with Jesus Hebert Christ. Tamara bears more than a passing resemblance to OG Sarra...and they're both from the same area of Canada. Then you've got J. Ho, aka the Chinese version of Kate. Not only do they both love exercising and healthy food, but they also called San Francisco their home before coming to Okinawa. Coincidence? I think not.

Little did I know they weren't the only imperfect clones coming to take the place of departing English teachers. Oooooh no. There are others! And I met quite a few of them at the new JET welcome party last weekend.

Max, aka young Hunter S. Thompson. Not a clone...or is he?

Sarra, aka Young Sars. She just doesn't know it yet. Also not a clone. Japan's top scientists have verified this.

Woop woop alternate universe alert! See the girl in the gray t-shirt? That'd be Jacquie, who sounds like and looks like a blonder, slightly older, Alana. The jury's still out on whether or not she apologizes for partying.

I'm doing my best Yyrone Biggums impersonation right here.

I learned a valuable lesson that day: don't trust the Russians.

Going to the party not only gave me a reason to mingle with evil clones bent on world dominationnew people, but also an excuse to go swimming with a bunch of peeps in the East China Sea. It's a lot more enjoyable than going to the beach by myself like I've been doing since my partially employed days started. Playing monkey in the middle actually becomes an option. And it's not everyday you get to see Stacy spank her own ass while riding Tony like a pony.

What will the new year hold in store? If I had to take a wild guess, I'd say more booze, more karaoke, and a few more trips to Saicolo.
