The Kanehide Home Center, an Agarihama institution for as long as I can remember (you know, all of two years), opened its doors to the public for the last time over the weekend. Taking its place will be...another home center, probably run by the same company that took over the former Kanehide Home Store in Itoman earlier this year. MaryAnn, Erika, Tetsuhisa and I ventured forth to the store in search of rock bottom prices and last minute deals on refrigerators.
The place looked like it'd been ransacked by British rioters (too soon?), but I have to wonder what would have happened if the discounts were even steeper. I mean...10%? 20%? What? I thought this was a going out of business sale. I was kind of hoping for 60% and 70% discounts, but it just wasn't meant to be. And with people scooping up shit anyway, I guess there wasn't any real incentive to cut profit margins any further.
Rich was in there looking for a rain suit to wear. Why would Rich need a rain suit when he's usually perfectly content rocking undershirts and swimwear? Because he bought a new scooter. Luuckkkyyyy. Unfortunately for him, all the rain gear had been snatched up. Instead of bemoaning this fact, he and MaryAnn stared at knives while contemplating ways to stab me.
They decided a giant grilling...thing...would be much more efficient.
I really wish this had been marked down so we could have had our very own Japanese style toilet installed in the bathroom. It would really give me a reason to perfect my Asian squatting techniques.
On second thought, maybe we'll just continue chillin' on the throne.
