If you took
Uniqlo, stripped it of all its color and fun, and threw furniture, housewares, and snacks into the product lineup what would you have?
Muji.
Muji, short for Mujirushi, means no brand, and as someone who generally detests in your face branding on clothes I'm a huge fan of Muji's overall philosophy. I'm also a fan of their no-frills design sense. Everything in Muji, from the room shoes, to the bed frames, to the wall clocks somehow manages to be stylish in its simplicity. It doesn't hurt that everything generally comes in black, white, or grey, aka my three favorite colors.
The best thing to come from Muji, however, may be these notebooks. I've got one dedicated to my raps (don't laugh) and another, unlined one that I use for sketches. In this crazy advanced techno-world of ours, there's still room for pen and paper.
These pens and markers might be the only Muji products you'll ever seen in a wide rainbow of technicolor. They're cheap, but amazing, and can be found outside of Muji stores in
Family Marts across Japan.
