あなたの笛をぬらしなさい (Wet Your Whistle)

A new bar run by one of Tetsuhisa and Erika's high school home skillets opened up in the seedy part of Yonabaru the other day (I like to refer to the area as the Matsuyama of the southeast). Named after one of the Blues Brothers, Jake features one of the more extensive drink menus I'm come across in my time on Okinawa, with cocktails and shots from all over the world. I even got to order my favorite drink, a Long Island Iced Tea, which is something that it kind of hard to come by around here. Beer is 500 yen, while all mixed drinks run a cool 700 yen. Like Bob Barker would say, the price is right.

The thing I like most about this place (besides the extensive drink menu) is the extreme attention to detail and personal touches that go into making each drink. Take this ice cube, for example. The glass could have been filled with your regular, one of the mill ice cubes, but instead you get this solid ice sphere that not only looks nice but melts at a slower rate, thereby not diluting your precious liquor with evil, evil water.

Sad fact of life: it doesn't take much for me to get tipsy anymore. A baby might be able to drink me under the table now.
