Way cute; did you get permission to retain the dog in your place, or are you still looking for a perma-home?

we may be sending her to the states as soon as tomorrow (thursday), although it might not actually be until tuesday. she was supposed to be on her way last sunday but plans fell through. you can be sure i'll be writing some blog posts about sending dogs to the states and agari's last day in okinawa

I've heard it's relatively easy to get a dog into the States since Japan is considered rabies-free. :) Good luck!

thaaaanks! not sure when you heard that but it hasn't exactly been easy tryin to ship this dog overseas. the other day at the airport someone mentioned agari could be quarantined for 30 days after she arrives possibly

Here's the CDC site on dog importation-- at the bottom there is a section about animals from rabies-free countries (which Japan qualifies as).

She may have to be quarantined if she's not six months old yet, but it sort of sounds like she'll just have to get her routine shots once she gets here. Either way I am told there is a LOT more paperwork if you're importing from somewhere else.
