Being a teacher involved with the learning of impressionable youths, every now and then I get the opportunity to leave the classroom and head out into the outside world. Usually this involves marching over to the nearby park and scaring ther other innocent kids there. But I've noticed a disturbing trend in Okinawan park design. Every large park I've been to has included at least one, inviting, gigantic slide. That in itself is more awesome than disturbing, but once you get to the top and look down you notice that the slide is actually one long corridor of ass-hurting rolly tubes! It forces kids (and slide loving adults) to ponder important life questions...like do I go down the slide knowing my ass will be punished, or do I turn back and miss out on a potentially awesome experience. It's a lot for a child to handle. Why are the best slides all rolly ones anyway? I know Japanese people are all a bit masochistic, but who wants to go down an awesome slide and rub their ass for all to see as soon as they hop off?
