yesterday out of the blue, T comes up to me at work and is like, "you know more about this store than anyone else here." yeh, random. so i said "oh yeh?" and she's like, "yes, but i'll tell you what the problem is..." and then a customer interrupted us. so a little later she comes back and is telling me that there's not one thing i don't know how to do in the store, give me a task and i'll do it like a champ, but that i'm not aggressive enough with people and she thinks that is what's holding me back from being the perfect replacement for the manager position. she said she's afraid that the employees would walk all over me. i told her i had no problem telling people what to do; if they actually did it, that's up to them. then Kelly came over (i think she pretty much thought she had the position in the bag) and T was like, "Leigh, if i had your knowledge plus Kelly's aggressiveness, i would have my perfect manager." and i said, "well...you can always fake being aggressive." it totally came out like i was saying Kelly was dumb, but i didn't mean it that way. but that was the fun part.
so she wants to set up a meeting with me and Julie and when i was leaving yesterday she asked me if i was going to be in town for awhile. since she's given me the run around for awhile about the position, i decided to pay back the favor. i told her i wasn't sure when i was leaving, that i was thinking about getting another job, that i needed a raise, this and that. she started to look really scared like she wouldn't know what to do if she lost me. but in the end i said it wouldn't hurt to meet and talk with Julie, so set something up and i'll be there.
the pros: benefits and money. the cons: selling your soul to the devil of New York and being it's slave fo' life, playa hata. farewell social life, it was nice knowing you!!!
