Relative Space Verse

So, this is an Alternate!Doctor for over at relative_space because canon is boring and only exists for fans to cut the bits up, feed the bits to their dog, and piece it back together in the way they think best.

Description: You're asking appearance-wise, I'm hoping. The Eighth Doctor is typically dressed in his normal Edwardian outfit, with velvet jackets, cravats, classy shoes, waistcoats... etc. Diverting from his original counterpart, however, his hair is drastically shorter, no longer to chin level, but closer to cropped, but not quite. He has blue eyes, strong chin, and he looks incredibly like that guy called Paul McGann who played him in a movie or some other.

Backstory: His canon reaches further into the 'Eighth Doctor Adventures' canon, now. He's lost one of his hearts, grew it back, spent 100 years alone on Earth. He lost Gallifrey once, and reconstructed it from the Matrix he had once stashed in his brain (this occurs after the 'Gallifrey Chronicles' and might not be canon, but probably is). With his memories now together and intact within him, and Gallifrey restored to its rightful place, he returned to Earth, continued travelling with Fitz and Trix until they decided to settle down once and for all. Following on then to the audio dramas, he picked up Charley, skipped around a bit as Zagreus, got trapped in the Divergent Universe, picked up C'rizz and returned to his original universe. This is where canon is broken.

Upon landing on Earth, he was immediately captured by Daleks, as are Charley and C'rizz. The Doctor meets Davros, Charley and C'rizz escape, but Charley is quickly recaptured. After his long conversation with Davros, who reveals the events that happened to his former companions Samson and Gemma and the Dalek's conquering of the Earth with the virus, the Doctor escapes, meeting with C'rizz, who had quickly found Gemma out and left her. They walk into a lab, only to be greeted by the sight of a new Dalek, who they quickly realise is Charley, mutated. C'rizz kills the Charley!Dalek despite the Doctor's objections and after a loud shouting match, the two are captured again and thrown into cells, where they continue to yell at each other until the Doctor is dragged to Davros to hear the end of his wonderful gloating. He uses the virus (that will wipe out all life on Earth) as a leverage point, but this time the Daleks call him out on his bluff, his inability to kill all life on a planet he loves so much. Davros becomes the new Dalek Emperor and he and C'rizz escape, turning Earth into what is essentially a new Skaro, where this time, humans are farmed and being mutated.

Returning to Gallifrey, he informed Romana (reconstructed with all of the other Time Lords) of this, but even after his puppy dog eyes and whining, she refused to do anything. Frustrated and angry, he returned to Earth to attempt to force the Daleks to leave once more, but lost C'rizz when they refused.

With no Earth to return to now, he was forced to travel to other planets, but was completely unable to find a planet that was as filled with the luxurious culture and feeling of home that was Earth. Broken hearted and depressed, he again returned to Gallifrey, suddenly coming face to face with a very irked Council. Upon Romana's recommendation, however, he was given a chair and a voice, which he took in hopes that he would be able to turn things around. He has worked several years in Gallifreyian politics, despising each step he takes of it, but hoping that it would one day give him enough leverage to allow him to change Earth's timeline. However, one year, he dashed again, returning to the old Type 40 TARDIS he had kept in his quarters and going to Earth just once more. There he found the Daleks massing, building up armies, upgrading... preparing. They were coming to invade Gallifrey. Again. This time with something that was akin to an unstoppable army.

After agonising years of trying to convince the High Council to take action, the Daleks attacked, turning Gallifrey into a battle ground for the Ultimate Time War. This is when he enters, decades since the first invasion.

(Did you real all that? Wow, you get a cookie. ADDITION: EVERYONE GETS A COOKIE AND MUFFINS. AND JELLY BABIES. YAAAAY!)

Your take on the character's personality and story: His time as a politician has made him somewhat cold and what most would consider 'untrustworthy', as politics would do to anyone, especially Gallifreyian. He is certainly more manipulative of people, bending them to his will when they're not looking, and lying quite frequently to get his way. His genial nature, however, is not gone, although it usually is a front for a more twisted character he holds inside. His compassion still exists as well, however the War has desensitised him somewhat. He is more willing to leave people behind and more quick to make sacrifices. But, essentially, he's still the Doctor. He's manipulative, 'cold', 'untrustworthy', yes, all those things, but he's still the Doctor. He still loves culture, beauty, life, and he's still more likely to keep his side of the deal than any of his peers. He can't use guns. But he is in a War, and he knows it. Sacrifices must be made and he will not allow Gallifrey to go through another destruction. Especially as this is one he will clearly not be able to reverse.

tl;dr, relative space
