Loved this line which is damning in feint praise and yet so perfect: "It had gotten to the stage where she almost didn’t mind being in love with someone like Bellatrix because for the first time, it felt as though the good outweighed the bad. Marginally."
I really liked the complex dynamics you presented with Narcissa and Belltrix and Herminoe conversing at Malfoy Manor. The layers are still swirling in my head. When will Bella listen to Narcissa or Hermione such that their words affect her thoughts or actions. Wonderment, truly. Knowing posthumously from Tonks that Andromeda cares for them had to be bittersweet in all sorts of ways and yet their reactions are focused on the fact that Hermione spoke forcefully to Bella. The odd family dynamics are fascinating.
Is a soul-healer needed?- I just don't know. I wonder what can fix bad parenting if not the understanding that it was bad.
I wonder about the eyes in the paintings on the wall at Malfoy, do they only move if spelled or if dead? Did the photos in Andromeda's the closet move?
A pleasure to read your work. Kali

From what I can tell, Bellatrix only seems to listen or understand Narcissa and Hermione if it has an impact on the way she feels or the way she is treated. She's selfish in that respect. There are so many layers to both Bellatrix and Narcissa that I find them hard to work out myself, and we don't know a huge amount of their past from canon, so I hope I've managed to portray their behaviour in a realistic fashion.
I suppose as a Soul-Healer is like a Psychologist, it depends on the person. Completely OT but when I had an eating disorder one Psychologist I saw absolutely sucked, but then a Counsellor I saw was bloody amazing and helped me understand the reasons why and to get better. Sometimes just having someone to help you see things that are clear to other people surrounding you can help. In that respect, I'd say a Soul-Healer is needed, if Bellatrix saw one who was a genuine help and was willing to engage. But that won't be the focus of this fic, anyway, as Hermione is the protagonist and she isn't going to be in the sessions. Perhaps a one-shot in the future!
I have to be honest, the painting on the wall was basically from a real painting on the internet here:

and is just a painting, not a moving one. The Andromeda photo's I imagine to move, as do all wizarding photos.
Sorry for the essay reply, and thanks for the review! :)
