Oh yeah, I also went to my grad dinner/dance and grad ceremony. The dinner was okay, the DJ sucked, the speeches were funny, the door prizes were alright, but the best part was taking pictures with all my friends and teachers. The grad ceremony was worth it if only because I got to take my last pictures with my friends in our grad outfits. Otherwise, arriving 1.5hours early to put on my gown (which cost $40 to rent for 1 hour and the only thing I got to keep was the hat thingy. $40 for a mortarboard. That’s money well spent I’m sure) was definitely not worth it. I wasn’t going to go, but I’m glad I did. I only wished that the other people I care about were there as well. And everyone was there with their boyfriends or girlfriends. I wished there was someone stable like that in my life, but only for that day. I used a grand total of 2.5 rolls of film for both those days. I’ll definitely scan and post a few choice ones up when I get them developed.
Despite the fact that only 2 people complimented me on my outfit at the dinner, I still felt like a million bucks. More people complimented me on my hair but not my outfit. I have to admit that stung somewhat. I put so much effort and thought into the details of my outfit and no one seemed to like it. I wasn't purposely trying to impress people mind you, but it's always nice when you get complimented on how you look.
My friend Vicky said "Why didn't you wear a dress?!"
"I did that already. I wanted to do something different."
"But you'd look so nice in a dress!"
Yeah. That hurt. Not like being eviscerated, just more of a sting.
I met up with Peterson (he's gay):
"Hi!! You look fabulous! It's so different from everyone else - it's awesome." (or something like that)
That made me feel better.
Ah well, I had the figurative balls to do what I always wanted to and not care a whole lot what other people thought. I did right by me and I'm happy about that.
A few weeks later, me, Jo and Annamarie went for dim sum before Annamarie had to leave for the island. Boy did we pack it in and Jo sure can eat. When the waiter came to write an order down on our bill he did a sort of double take between us and the bill. I didn't see it, but Jo said that the look on his face seemed to convey that he couldn't believe we had order so many dishes. Even my parents were surprised. We spent $10 each for 3 people. When my parents and I go out to lunch with my uncle and aunt, it only costs them $8 for 5 people. We spent 3 hours at that restaurant just eating and talking. The food was pretty good, but the company was even better. Of course, it's always better to go to dim sum with more people so you can sample more dishes, but that didn't seem to stop us that afternoon. he he.
