the little things
i got a compliment on my french the other day. it's the first time it's happened in a long time & it made me feel really good. i've been feeling like my french is terrible lately. mostly because i'm surrounded by ppl who don't speak english at all & so they mostly just ask me if i understand what they're saying, which i usually do until they start throwing slang & jokes & stuff in. it's nice to get a compliment like that..because I do speak well. it's just the everyday conversation stuff that i have trouble with. & not even really...just little bits of it. which, being french, of course the notice...
i've gotten more settled in the last few week. i'm living in an apartment in croix-rousse with a girl named karine. she's 33 & quite nice although she doesn't really have a job or anything. she does little jobs on the side when she needs money & takes in roommates to help pay the rent. we were supposed to have another girl move in yesterday, but she never showed up & karine can't get ahold of her on her phone so it looks like she won't be moving in.
i also have an interview at Starbucks tomorrow which I am extremely nervous for. In fact, I think I'm going to email the guy & ask him a few questions about it just to make sure I have it all straight. Hopefully that works out because I am going to be needing money sooon.
