WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS???

Who is this fool of a man, and why was I taken to his house? And where are my personal effects and my whip?

If I do not receive an explanation for this foolishness immediately, there will be serious repercussions.

Are you in charge of providing explanations, or do you simply take it upon yourself? At any rate, I appreciate the offer, if your insight is in any way valuable.

I have been informed of many things about which I would ordinarily consider far too foolish, but my presence and observations have indicated that an open mind is necessary. Thus far, I have determined an unknown group, including those residents referred to as 'drones,' have brought us here through unknown means and for unknown motives. However, means of escape have yet to be found, and the town possesses unique attributes, including, but not limited to, the inability to walk beyond the boundaries of the town without traveling in a 'loop,' resurrection, the elimination of certain special abilities, the presence of persons who are either deceased or from a different point in time, the ability to brainwash as a response to insubordination, and the ability to confiscate clothing and personal possessions while we are sleeping. There is also the curious practice of enforced, false family units, and involved in this in some way is the Chief of Police, one Chief Grady, who is not overly concerned with law enforcement.

Is there any information that is known that I do not possess, and furthermore, can you corroborate any of these pieces of information with what you have witnessed with your own eyes? I prefer not to rely on testimony from a single witness, you understand.

I'm not in charge here, but simply take it upon myself to explain things when I can. People have a right to be properly informed.

*listens, nods, nods some more, listens some more, taps his chin, nods...* I see...

I will add that people are brainwashed even without reason, just as often as for insubordination. When the brainwashing is instated as a punishment, it lasts for a short period of time; for all other instances, however, the brainwashing can last for weeks, or months. For those brainwashed for a longer amount of time, the possibility of suffering acute amnesia increases; they forget all that happened in Mayfield, though retained all memories of their lives before coming here. I am continuing to research this particular phenomenon, since brainwashing robs us of our free will.

I'm sure you've noticed by now that your image appears in photographs all over the house, as if you've lived there for years and years, yes? All the drones will insist that this is the case, Chief Grady included.

Can you clarify what specific acts of insubordination are generally targeted with brainwash? And to what, if any, extent do the police practice more traditional law enforcement?

Mm, it's been tested only a few times thus far, so I can't give you a perfectly clear picture. I've been told that assaulting the Chief of Police does it. My friend and I were brainwashed for a short period for attempting to break into the store where our kidnappers are housing all our possessions.

I see.

Thank you. You have, unlike countless foolish others, been very helpful, Mr....

Yes. *stands at attention and salutes* Ludwig Hermann, of 771 Bunker street.

*after dealing with Kanna he's starting to introduce himself as such more often*

What is your name, Fräulein?

Franziska von Karma, 1449 Mitchell Road. You are German, Mr. Ludwig Herman?

I am. And, ah... you as well, Ms. von Karma, I presume?

That is correct. Well, it is a pleasure to meet another from my homeland who does not spout foolish nonsense about being 'a country' or 'awesomeness.' Most of those here of my previous acquaintance are Americans, and I have imagined it is the same for many of those I have spoken to today.

......Y-yes. Quite right.

*we're not sweating, no of course not*

Th-there certainly are a wide variety of people here beyond Americans, actually. This town has become a temporary meeting of worlds. Why, I saw an animal with a zig-zag tail the other day that had never seen described in any Zoology book I ever read. You never know what or who you may run into here, that is certain.

*we're not avoiding eye contact, no of course not*

[...Giving you a suspicious look since she's a good enough attorney to recognize evasiveness. Great, who are you then, Bavaria?]

Yes, there are certainly many surprises to be found.
