Zero and Cain were both woken up with a start when a sharp noise echoed though out the apartment. As the noise repeated itself, Cain cursed lightly and sprung out of bed. Zero just lay back down on the bed as he heard Cain pick up the phone in the living room. He perked his ears up to hear.

"Hello?"

"No, no, it's fine, needed to get up anyway."

"No, just stayed up a little late last night."

"Hanging with a friend."

"A friend from work. So, when you coming home?"

"OK. About what time?"

"So I'll meet you around 3?"

"I know. I have some things I want to talk to you about too."

"We'll talk about it when you get here, OK?"

"We will talk about it when you get here."

"Adora, please, can you just drop it right now?"

"A little, but I've gotten over most of it."

"I know you do, honey."

"I'll see you when you get here."

"Bye."

Zero heard the phone being hung up and Cain letting out a little frustrated growl. He moved out of the bed, wrapping the sheet from the bed around his body. He walked into the living room to see Cain standing next to a table, holding the bridge of his nose in frustration. Zero moved over to him, wrapping his arms around Cain, his back against Zero's chest, and wrapped them both in the blanket.

Zero placed his chin on Cain's shoulder, mouth lightly kissing his neck as Cain leaned his head back onto Zero's shoulder, sighing.

"Having second thoughts?" Zero said quietly. Cain turned to face Zero, Cain's lips pressing closely to Zero's.

"Never," Cain spoke as he captured Zero's lips in a kiss. Cain broke the kiss, smiled at the man before him, and then sighed again.

"I'm going to have to pick up Adora up in a few hours, so you need to be heading out of here soon," Cain said. Zero moved Cain until he was standing in front of him.

"I'll leave in all due time, my love." He moved down to take Cain's lips while he rubbed his newly formed need into Cain. Cain broke the kiss.

"Adrian, I have to pick up Adora in like 3 hours."

"Then I guess we have to hurry up, don't we?" Zero said, claiming Cain's lips again before shoving him up against the nearby wall. Cain tried to protest again, but with the passion, love, and almost desperation that Zero was kissing him with made all protest just die in his throat.

"Just hurry up then," Cain choked out through kisses. He could feel a smile spread across Zero's lips as they frantically kissed each other. Cain could feel Zero thrusting himself into his own awaking need.

"Bed... now," Cain said through kisses as he wrapped his legs around Zero's hips. Zero grabbed Cain's ass as he held on to his lover, franticly trying to get to the bed as Cain rubbed himself into Zero, which caused Zero to bump into a table, knocking the contents to the floor. Soon enough, Zero was pushing Cain onto the edge of the bed as he looked around quickly for that bottle.

"Night stand, good," Zero thought as he grabbed the bottle and quickly started to rub the oil on his aching need. He then quickly thrust two fingers into Cain, Cain moaning loudly at this, as Zero prepared his lover quickly.

"Damn it Adrian, I want you now!" Zero removed his fingers at that, positioning Cain at the edge of the bed, and thrust into his welcoming body. Cain grabbed a hold of the sheets and arched his body to meet with Zero's quick thrusts.

"Harder," Cain panted out as Zero grabbed onto Cain's hips, thrusting harder into his lover. Cain cried out from this.

"God! Oh yes! More!" Cain cried again as he took his erection and started to pump with Zero's frantic thrusts. Zero nearly came at those words. His thrusts became harder and faster, so desperate to please this man below him. Zero could feel himself getting closer as his hands tightened on Cain's hips with a bruising force.

"Oh God, Adrian, I love you so much!" Cain cried out one last time as he came, pushing Zero over the edge at the same time with his words.

Zero moved to lie next to his lover, holding each other, whispering words of love as they came down from there mutual highs.

After a while, Cain went to go take a shower while Zero just lay there on the bed in his afterglow. Despite this, he couldn't help feeling a sense of desperation within him. Soon Cain finished his shower, allowing Zero a quick one. As he washed away the sex from the past few hours, he still could not shake the feeling he was getting in the pit of his stomach.

When he got out of the shower and got dressed, he found Cain straightening up the house nervously.

"So, what's the plan?" Zero said as he walked into the bedroom, pulling out his duffel bag and starting to pack up his belongings that had migrated around the tiny apartment. Zero noticed that Cain had changed the sheets on the bed, hiding the evidence of the infidelity that had taken place over the last 48 hours.

"I'm going to pick up Adora, we're going to talk, and I will meet up with you later. I'm sure once I tell her what we've been up to that she's going to want me out of here quickly." Zero smiled despite himself.

"Where would you like to meet up at?"

"The tavern, next to the station. Let’s say around six. We can have dinner and a few drinks to celebrate."

"Six. I guess that is a plan, then." Zero came out of the bedroom, bag in hand.

"If you like, I can stick around. Moral support, or just someone else for Adora to yell at." Cain just shook his head.

"Nah, this is something I need to do on my own."

"You sure?" Zero said. Cain nodded. Zero put his bag down, and moved over to give Cain a hug.

"Good luck, and I'll see you within a few hours." Zero moved to kiss him lightly. Cain moved in to deepen the kiss for a second, then pulled back.

"Thanks. I'll see you soon." Zero nodded, and went to retrieve his bag and walk to the door of Cain's apartment. As his hand brushed against the door knob he turned and said,

"I love you, Wyatt."

"I love you too, Adrian," Cain said with a smile. Zero opened the door and left, fear in the pit of his stomach.

---

Zero sighed as he took another sip of his beverage. He had shown up early in case Cain needed to meet with him before the rendezvous, but currently it was 30 minutes passed 6. He was starting to worry. Every second that ticked by made him wonder if Cain was even going to come. But his answer was soon brought to him. He felt a tap on his shoulder, and he turned to face Cain's partner.

"Mr. Zero?" he said.

"Yes, Mr. Morgan."

"I'm sorry to bother you, but Wyatt asked me to do him a favor," he said as he handed him an envelope.

"Did he say anything else?" Zero questioned.

"Yeah, that he won’t be making it tonight and that he was sorry." Zero tried to hold back the disappointment, but he could tell that Morgan saw it. He thanked the man, paid his tab, and walked to his apartment. He had a feeling that he did not want to read the letter in public. As he walked closer and closer to his apartment, anger coursed through his veins. Anger at Cain for chickening out yet again. He made it to the apartment, slamming the door as he entered. He sat down at his kitchen table and ripped open the letter.

Dear Adrian,

I am truly sorry that I am not there to tell you this in person; I just thought it would be easier for the both of us, if we do not see each other right now. You see, when Adora came home tonight, I had full intentions to tell her we were through. But then she told me that she was pregnant. She's going to have my child. No matter how unhappy I am, no matter how much I love you, I can not abandon that little life that is within her. That child is my making, and I have to see this through. I truly am sorry about this, my love. I wish things could be different. I suggest we stay away from each other for the time being. I had been planning on applying for a position on the Mystic Man’s detail. I know I'm still green, but maybe the time apart will be what we need right now. Remember that I have never and will never stop loving you.

Love Always,

Wyatt

By the time he was finished reading the letter, tears had appeared in Zero's eyes: tears of sadness, anger and hate. Hatred for Adora, for trapping Wyatt in this situation, anger for Wyatt, for not standing up enough for them, and sadness for himself, for the fact that his heart was slowly breaking into two.

Zero watched in almost triumphant horror as two of his Longcoat lackeys held down Cain while another caused more blood to run down Cain's beautiful face. He smirked down at the abused man as he made his way into Cain's home.

He found Adora clenching her son, trying to cover his ears from his father's cries of pain from outside the home. He smiled wickedly at her before grabbing her roughly by the back of the neck, leaving the boy behind. He dragged her from the home. She screamed for him to stop as he smiled like the mad man he had become.

"You deserve every bit of this, you bitch. You’re the reason I lost Wyatt in the first place," he thought as he flung her to another one of his officers, pulling the yellow silk ribbon from her hair. He stared at it for a moment, lost in a thought for a second before he wrapped the annoying fabric around his fingers and stared at his prey.

He could hear Adora screaming for them to stop. He could see Cain getting punched yet again. He almost winced at the sound.

"This is what you deserve," Zero thought. When he heard that Cain had joined the resistance, he knew it was only a matter of time until the order would have been handed down to eliminate him. When it came down, two days prior, he volunteered for the mission, saying that there was unfinished business between the two of them.

He walked to where Cain was being held, his partner moving out of his way as he stood in front of his former lover. Cain raised his head to look at him, those blue eyes flashed with anger.

"The same anger I've been feeling for the past ten years," Zero thought as he struck out against the man in front of him, smile still on his face.

Zero started to walk back into the house as he heard Cain yell out in anger.

"Good, feel that anger. Let it eat up your soul, like it did mine."

He found the boy, the whole reason he lost his love a second time. He could hear Adora screaming out again as he dragged the kicking boy from the house. He looked at Cain just for a second before he turned to stare down at the flailing boy in front of him.

He looked so much like his father. He hesitated slightly in his decision, but then brought his hand back and backhanded the boy, causing him to spin to the ground.

He saw Cain break free from one of the Longcoats, punching his partner as the boy got up, running at him, trying to punch him, and pleading for him to stop. He almost laughed at the boys attempts.

"So much fire and passion, just like his father," he thought

One of the Longcoats took a hold of the boy, still kicking and screaming.

"Get them out of here. You know what to do with them." The men nodded and took Adora and the boy away. He knew they were going to take them into custody, eventually releasing them on his orders, but he wanted Cain to think that he had other plans for his family. He wanted Cain to hate him, just as much as Zero hated Cain.

Despite his hatred for the man and his family, he was not a cold-blooded killer. He only killed when necessary, or when ordered to do it, and all the Sorceress had told him was to deal with the problem any way he felt best.

"Bring it," Zero ordered as three Longcoats left, leaving just the two that held Cain in place. He turned to look at Cain again, those blue eyes looking up at him with anger, such beautiful anger.

"Yes, this is what I wanted," he thought, even if he could feel a pang in his heart at the condition that Cain was now in. He moved close to Cain.

"By the rule of Queen Azkadellia, you have been charged with aiding the resistance. This is punishable by death. You know that, Cain," he said almost wickedly. Zero moved to kneel in front of Cain, staring directly into those fiery blue eyes of his.

"Too bad I'm not going to make this that easy for you, love." He moved in to kiss Cain's bloodied cheek, tasting the metallic liquid before whispering into Cain's ear.

"This is what you get when you keep breaking a man's heart, love." He pulled back to see the shock in Cain's eyes. He almost faltered in his plans at that, and gave Cain a weak sad smile before it turned back into a smirk.

"You know what to do, boys," Zero said as he got up, got to his horse, and started to ride off as the other men began to bring in the iron suit.

Despite himself, he felt a tear roll down his cheek as he rode away from the angered screams that echoed throughout the woods.
