Thank you for pointing out a flea in the story...,a flaw in the ointment.Anyway,a weak reasoning.:-)I had been hoping for remarks like yours to help me improve.
Maybe Stephen has not taken away command of a situation from Jack before,so unexpectedly.Maybe his idea of punishment will backfire?I will have to find an explanation in the threat and promise Jack read in Stephen's eyes.Would you care to beta that story?
And while I'm asking for help,someone out there explain about icons,photos,italics and bold letters in lj entries?

Sure, I'll beta.

And italics and bold are really fairly straightforward.. just put < i> and < b>, respectively, when you want them to start and < /i> or < /b> when you want them to stop. (If that's what you were asking.) But without the spaces.
