Advent Calendar - Day 6 - An Evening at the Grapes

"I am very, very fond of your room at The Grapes, Stephen,” he’d said to Stephen Maturin; his ship’s surgeon and his particular friend. Jack Aubrey. RN, Captain of HMS Surprise 28 ; ashore while his ship was being repaired and outfitted for going foreign, traveled from his home near Portsmouth to check on his ship’s progress. Having done so, he made his way to Stephen’s room at The Grapes, a small, antiquated hotel, well off the beaten path; with a staff very much used to the doctor’s ways.

Today's Advent is, as justincase said A Christmas present for Dreamboat Dreamer 70. I seem to be writing more of these looking back stories for Jack and Stephen. The muse appears to enjoy reflection and only whispers to me this way.
