Lucky Jack still has his Stephen who won't let him stay down for too long. For a sometimes miserable little git Stephen has an astounding ability to cheer Jack up.

I love your descriptions of their surroundings, from a darkened room, to snow shovelling, to the hustle and bustle of the ship and meeting with old comrades.

Yes they are the perfect Yin and Yang, each balancing the other, supporting each other in time of need. That's what makes them so special to all of us Aubrey-Maturin aficionados. *g*
