Lucky Jack still has his Stephen who won't let him stay down for too long. For a sometimes miserable little git Stephen has an astounding ability to cheer Jack up.

"...reflected the sun’s glory in multiple sources of brilliant, crystalline light, a dazzling world of blue and gold and white, a complete contrast to the preceding days of gloom. “Blue and gold,” Stephen murmured, “Jack’s colours.”"

I love your descriptions of their surroundings, from a darkened room, to snow shovelling, to the hustle and bustle of the ship and meeting with old comrades.

A beautiful, poignant piece - and a perfect example of how well Stephen and Jack know each other.

Yes they are the perfect Yin and Yang, each balancing the other, supporting each other in time of need. That's what makes them so special to all of us Aubrey-Maturin aficionados. *g*

Very nice. Sweet and sad, and very much them.

Thank you my dear. I always try my best to write them in the proper O'Brian style.

I'm not sure she wants to accelerate ageing. Lovely pic. Stephen and Jack are the perfect couple indeed.

I've been assured she did, along with all the other work by the contributors to her special birthday fanzine.
