Float the Fleet: Support Tall Ship sailing adventures
Grays Harbor Historical Seaport in Washington State, US, is home to the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain, two small tall ships that are used for educational and recreational purposes. Passengers can take day tours or travel on overnight cruises. Volunteers can learn the ropes (literally) on board by sailing for weeks at a time.
Grays Harbor is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to preserving maritime history, founded in 1986. Their two ships require repair and maintenance to keep sailing, and the organization has launched a campaign called "Float the Fleet" to raise funds.
The first goal is to repair the hull of the Lady Washington, the Official Ship of Washington State.
I'd like to encourage members of perfect_duet to support this campaign in honor of our own "Perfect Duet".
Patrick O'Brian was able to write his historical novels because interest in the Age of Sail has been kept alive for centuries through many means, including sailing in true Tall Ships.
I know these days people's charitable funds are limited and the opportunities for giving are correspondingly high, so I offer two incentives for sparing a few dollars/pounds/euros/what-have-you for this purpose.
First, I will write fanfic for donors (the higher the donation, the longer the fic. Comment or PM me if you would like details).
Second, I will match each donation dollar for dollar (up to an absurd amount I won't mention here).

P.S. I took a day cruise on the Hawaiian Chieftain and noticed that about half their on-board library consisted of the Master and Commander series. When I joshed a crew member about missing some volumes from the series, she said they were most likely in the crew's bunks :D
