I find sharing a most encouraging thing. Thus, I endeavoured to draw Jack / Stephen, after 2 years into this wonderful series. Well, during first 1.5 years I only read two volumes cos only vol.1 & 10 had been translated into my native language, as movie tie-in I suppose. Sadly, they didn't sell too well, so there is no more, much like the fate of movie...But certainly I couldn't get enough of them after working through these 2 books time after time. I must confess reading original version is quite a labour (comparing to that I swallowed the translated Vol.1 in ONE day), but oh so rewarding and allows me to enter this lovely community without to much fear for spoiler. I've got to Vol.6 so far plus The Unknown Shore and must slow my pace a little cos I'd like to have the pleasure of learning Jack & Stephen in several years.
Oh since my native language is Chinese, you know how much I'm amused near the end of Desolation Island: that little poem Stephen shared with Jack is one of the most famous Chinese poems, literally every one who's been to school can recite it, it's written by Li Bai (701-762) who is a bit of like our version of Lord Byron (interesting, at same time there's a future Lord Byron under Jack's command). Though Mr. Herapath maybe got the first line wrong: the word BED used to be also refering to the rails around a well, more likely this line should be translated to "As I standing by the well".
I shall been keep on lurking a lot and I am such a slow hand, can't produce many goods in a short time, but please, take this one below as web cookie for all, for all those beautiful contributions you people made to this fandom.
Title: Distraction (PG maybe, nothing explicit)
The thing is, I watched the movie first, so the heights of these two always a jarring problem to my mental image. I admir Paul Bettany (since before warching this movie) but I also adore Book!Jack's sweet natural (sometimes I need to re-warch A Beautiful Mind to help indulging my imagination a little)... I end up avoiding their heights' contrast.
