I am probably well overdue with this, but let's talk about AERIS AND BOYS.
So. Aeris in Crisis Core is where we have to start.
THIS is the first time you meet Aeris in CC.
THIS is when you meet Aeris in FFVII.
It's virtually the same scene, but following the script you have Aeris prompting the exchange of bodyguard for a date, which is something Zack asks in CC but she turns him down (sort of). The bodyposture (as much as you can get from our polygons XD) is different too. BUT ESSENTIALLY, AERIS IN CC IS YOUNG AND INNOCENT and not nearly as pushy as Aeris in FFVII. We see this other places too.
Aeris in FFVII can kick ass. This is probably a learned skill, the whole staff and beating people up.
Aeris in FFVII has no issue with topping boys into dresses or. Well. Being toppy at all.
Aeris in FFVII is okay with not being normal, and while she doesn't flaunt it and even hides it a little it's not the issue it is for her in CC.
Now, I don't want to be like "BECAUSE ZACK EXISTED, AERIS BECAME BADASS" because that's not really true. She would have found her way there eventually, but he was definitely a catalyst. Who he was and what he meant to her. (And yeah there is a party on the internet who says it wasn't love etc blah blah BUT well. I play him as her first love so suck it). They have that conversation where she says "I think normal is best" and Zack is basically the opposite of that. For Aeris, who had been told/knew she was 'special' and it had brought nothing but bad things for her entire life it was really hard to let go of. POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT. It's a good thing.
Because of Zack's personality, he's very exo exo exo exo she responds to that in a certain way. Aeris sort of rises to that occasion, ish. She'll meet him there, his energetic and personal level. He brings that out in her, and in camp you can see how an older more mature Aeris responds to him. He's high energy and she's teasingly high energy back. She feels a bit more comfortable pushing the boundaries a bit. I guess you could, put it simply, her personality is more dominant.
IN COMPARISON Cloud is very intro intro intro. And Aeris responds in a different way to that than she does to Zack. Cloud is someone which Aeris doesn't so much change herself for but doesn't rise to the challenge like she does with Zack. Aeris isn't exactly toned down but she is more like to do an ask/wait for response or pushy-question sort of behavior and less of a Direct Topping or Teasing. There's a more subdued energy to her when she talks to him, even though she's just as bossy and the same person as she is with Zack, Cloud just brings out different facets of her.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER well basically the boys who are closest to Aeris's heart fall into the 'exo like zack' or 'intro like cloud' categories. Whether or not they are actually that personality, those are the two major ways her personality rotates in response to other people.
If you're one of her boys, you can ask about where you fall and/or how she relates you to her boys. Or. Whatever.
