Jay made a beautiful post.
When I was a kid, no matter where we spent Easter ( Lombardy, Rioja or Leon) we would not miss rural celebration of Easter, and I miss that, how real it felt. On the other hand, giving up things for a while sharpens taste for reprisals, so now that I've been a heathen for so long I feel I am moved by things I really didn't use to pay attention to...
My nephews the balroglings both play in their own heavy metal bands, but they still sing in the church choir, and the eldest also in the opera choir. So today we were treated to a session of Bach's Matthew's Passion HIglights that really worked as a whole renewal session to me. You have to love a classical, religious, jesuit education that gives you tools you to extract meaning from a moment of instrospection in a Xth century stone work little chapel . I wept and soared, and felt renewed and at peace.
