I already got : I arrived home safely and smoothly (Have you seen the chaos at European airports lately? I'm SOOOO glad I missed that this year!!!) And also had a couple days of cold sunshine, so I managed to go hiking and enjoyed a last glimpse of autumn. Thank you, Santa! :-)
This place is barely an hour drve from my hometown to the east. We drove there early in the morning, and it was quite cloudy when we started climbing, then clouds and fog lifted and got to see the coast. Then as we climbed a bit higher and the day moved on, some more clouds set in, but a cold wind swept them away. It was hard for a while to trudge across the snow, mostly because of the wind. When climbing down on the south side, though, we got to those incredible meadows where the wild horses roam freely and sat to have a quick lunch under that pine tree, looking at the distant mountains. Seriously, I get renewed in those spare moments. Sitting there, munching apples and nibbing at almonds and hazelnuts, and dinking cold fountain water, and hearing nothing but the wind, and the occasional cry of birds, I feel aboslutely renewed. And home.
Today, we're back to our normal cold, rainy, soggy grey blanket spread over our heads.
