Fantastic! That's a great description of these two women's relationship. I like their lack of hugs but their gestures of respect toward each other. They're two women who have grown up tough in a tough world (Lois as an Army brat; Tess in Granny Goodness' orphanage) and they speak without words.

I am not Clark; I am not an oceanographer of feeling - I can't unfurl my arms like sails and gather people up into them; I am not the one who heals people, and neither is she.

I like this description of Clark. :)

There will always be this space between Tess and myself, and the two of us like lighthouses on opposite shores: we cast our light out to each other across the water - we see each other, we understand and love each other, and we will never reach each other.

Perfect! :)

What a beautiful character study this is. I love seeing Lois in reporter mode and got a kick out of her somewhat sheepish realization that she shouldn't have gone it alone on this story. Best of all, I love her thoughts about Suicide Slums and the importance of telling its stories. It is sad that the people who need the Blur the most don't feel as if he cares for them. Glad to know she and Clark will do their best to change that.
