"Reason and morality are the only weapons that determine the course of history..." ~Ayn Rand

It's still beautiful outside, but it's getting chilly.  My dogs insist on jumping on the bed and then burrowing under the covers next to me.  If it weren't for the dog hair, it'd be too cute to resist.  As it is, they make great foot warmers.

Anywho, it's chilly and I'm drinking hot chocolate (tons of marshmallows and whip cream on top) after having finished my banana.  I'm also waiting on my chocolate chip muffins to finish baking (and then cooling) so I can finish a leisurely breakfast.  After that, it's back to the cutting board to work on my Jedi tunic.  We're having a kiddie Halloween party at work on Saturday; since I'm in charge, I have to dress up, too, and I'm tired of being a Quidditch player from Harry Potter.  Now all I have to do is find my toy lightsaber!

Beep!  Muffins are done.  Be right back.

Back!  After I finish the Jedi tunic, I also intend to finish the book I'm working on right now.  It's a collection of Ayn Rand's essays called Return of the Primitive (an expanded edition of an earlier collection titled The New Left).  This is a thinking cap book.  What I find most fascinating is her denunciation of the direction of American culture and politics.  She makes statements in here about what will eventually happen because of these modes of thought.  The essays were predominately written in the 60's and her predictions are scarily accurate.  I am going to highly recommend this book to all of you.  I wouldn't be friends with you if I didn't think you were rational human beings and thus this book should resonate with your thoughts.  The best essay, in my opinion, was The Comprachicos, about how our "education system" is systematically destroying higher thought processes.  I didn't know that Rand had ever done any research into cognitive development, but there it is.  And afterwards, I wanted to slap every mother in the store who told her kid "Now be nice and share".  Grrr.

Okay, my muffins are cool, so it's breakfast (round 2) time.  No news on the vacation front yet; I'm still waiting for the store manager to get back to me.  Later!
