I'd heard of this before, but I've now found out they're going to make the 2007 film of
Beowulf, starring Anthony Hopkins and Brendan Gleeson, into an animation. Presumably CGI and whatnot. Can't tell yet whether or not I think this is a good idea. At least they can forget about the "how will we find an actor that looks like Beowulf should?" problem, by designing him from scratch on a computer. But I still doubt they'll make it particularly faithful to the originel pome.
At least it won't be as bad as
Beowulf vs. Grendel is going to be (OK, Beowulf and Grendel). Not so much because Gerard Butler is Beowulf and Stellan Skarsgard is Hrothgar, but that they've mangled the plot so that Hrothgar murdered Grendel's father (cue inexorable Star Wars referencing) and thus Grendel's really pissed off and decides to kill ppl (weeps at the sacrilege). Me, bitter? No.
