Bankers...

You may or may not know that my mother came to see me yesterday. We had much fun. We watched the jousting, had a good lunch and sat in the park and went round the armouries museum (not in that order). There are photos here if you are interested.

She brought me a few things I'd asked for as well as all of my post since the last time I was home. I opened one from the bank where I have my student account and was totally not amused. Last October when I started this course I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to reinstate me as a student and to increase my overdraft. I showed them my letter of acceptance (which clearly states that the course is 12 months long) and my student ID card which also clearly puts my end date as 19th September 2007. This letter said that the account would automatically migrate to a graduate account on 28th July 2007. They said that following that date I would be charged interest on my overdraft from 9.9%.

So they've fucked up basically and they're charging me for their fuck-up. So tomorrow I am heading down the bank with my letter and all the proof I originally gave them and I will demand that a) they reinstate me as a student and b) they refund any interest charges incurred by their mistake.

Last year when I graduated the graduate account also had a free overdraft, but they've changed the system and if you want a free graduate overdraft you have to pay £9.95 per month! So when I finish uni I will have to clear my overdraft to save getting interest charges. Luckily I have enough money to do so. But that money was put aside so that I could a) buy a car, b) insure myself to drive said car, c) tax said car, d) buy new clothes for work, e) buy food to eat, f) buy things on holiday in Berlin, etc etc. You get the picture.

So now I have no idea how I will afford a car. Mum says she'll get Dad to sort me a car out. I don't want Dad to sort me a car out. He's to unreliable, as are all of his cars.

dad, car, bank, mum, money, rant
