I know I am always behind on posting my thank yous and reflections... but this is the first time I have been home in a week and have had a few moments to sit down at a computer.
Firstly, I honestly do feel this was the best tribute show we have put on. We had a great group of mucians and vocalists on stage, sure things fucked up, but we all had fun and I think that reflectted well on stage.
Hypofixx vocals - Hypofixx (not sure if I am allowed to use your real name
Nux vocals - MDM
Nathan vocals - a Random Exit
Herman vocals - Delica
Shane guitar / vocals - Sangsara / New Love Army
Scworm vocals - Nanochrist
Mike guitar - Nanochrist
Dan guitar - Defence Mechanism / MDM
Tim Jones 2.0 guitar - New Love Army / Sangsara
and of course Ian guitar and Chris Vocals from Poodition
also thnk you to Mike and Jeff for helping with sound, Jordan for lights, Herman for recording, Cynthia for merch, Pete for camera, Michelle for the quick bar service and support.
Next year; I was thinking tribute to Steve Albini - all his projects (Big Black, Rapeman, Shelac) I just have no idea if enough people actually know who he is or would know how much he has done for music.
other option would still, of cource be Killing Joke.
On a personal note, the night / day was really hard for me. Aside from the usual no sleep, waking up slightly drunk and making rev my breakfast and continuing to drink for a straight 24 hours. Then the usual stresses of trying to run an event, where we had never even reheased together aside from that afternoon. But it was the last day of the Vatikan. That place, aside from being my work place has become a second home to me, and the other employees a family, it was where we rehearsed, hung out, drank and maybe if it was cleaner it would of been used for other things... And as much as people may say differently, both Lance and Johnny are really good people, you just have to dig abit.. And they really did let me get away with alot of crap in there, put alot of trust and faith into me and have always been there.. mostly for me when I needed them. So it was really hard letting go of that, and dealing with that on an emotional level and the last thing I wanted was any stress on that day in particular.. oh well.
Even before the weekend was over I was offered two jobs, live sound and recording engineer, so, we'll see how that goes.. like most things it could just be talk, but you never know. And I still just want to work in a small jazz club, sick of all the Marshalls and yelling at 'musicians' to turn the fuck down.
So, tomorrow we are playing in Hamilton at club Absinthe, Minx Clothing will also be doing a fashion show, if you were at BC then you will know what to expect, if not, then you'll just have to come out tomorrow :)
Looking forward to Sonia's first live performance with us. Also reconfiguring our entire on stage technical setup which should make things alot better for us and more consistant.. may piss off other techs, but whatever, if its not a challenge then whats the point.
After that I think we are taking some time off to do some writing and coming back to the stage in the fall. And unless something really screws up it will be our biggest show yet... :)
for the guitarist thing, we will be looking for a second one now-ish, and I will continue on bass for now.
I think thats about all I feel like write for now, hope to see some people out in hamilton.
