Adventures by coffee

I started drinking coffee about two years ago. Before then, I always thought I loved the smell of coffee but hated the flavor. D helped me realize that it wasn't coffee that I hated, it was cheap coffee that I hated. I have gone on to discover all kinds of things about the benefits of drinking coffee. It has definitely helped me to succeed at my current job. There is nothing like that boost of coffee in the morning to get the day started!

Coffee also seems to help my digestion. I don't need fiber to be regular! After the initial adjustment period (which nearly scared me off, but I persevered) I've found that a typical morning includes a visit the the restroom around 10 am. This has become a nice break from co-workers and the stresses of stupid paperwork mistakes.

My company has six bathrooms throughout the building. All of the bathrooms are single occupant, and for simplicity, they are all unisex. I think this is handy. Some of the bathrooms even have showers, which seem to get a surprising amount of use. I guess some people decide it is easier to shower at work, or something.

This morning started like most any other. I went about the morning routine, and then went off to find the nearest empty bathroom. I had already had some pretty foul gas at this point, and I didn't want the labels to start peeling off packages, so I figured I should get things taken care of.

It was a pretty disturbing affair, especially considering D and I had cheesy breadsticks and super supreme pizza the previous night. No big deal, this part of the building is rather isolated, so even though the bathroom doesn't have good ventilation, I knew I would be able to make my escape and no one would be the wiser.

Upon completing my business and opening the door, who should be going the other way but the owner of the company. And immediately he spun on his heel and turned back to me.

"Ah good morning, perdita!" he said cheerfully. As I stepped away from the bathroom door, I returned his greeting with a terrified "Good morning!"

He smiled happily and went past me into the bathroom, shutting and locking the door behind him.

And so goes the adventures by coffee.
