I bought a new (used) car in September!  He's a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek hybrid, and I named him Trekkie.  He's smaller than Sue, my Outback, so I've been concerned about being able to fit all my stuff into him.  When I go camping, Sue is packed full!  I picked up a rooftop carrier at a yard sale to help.  This one is plastic/fabric, so is folds small enough to carry around inside the car.
Grace has been selling used upscale clothing on Poshmark, and in December, one of our friends called her to come and get some more.  He works for an auction company and picks sellable things out of estates.  Clothes are not something they auction, so we drove to Fries, Va to look over the estate.  It was in an old farmhouse far out in the country, and the old couple who lived there had no children.  They had a huge collection of brand-name clothes such as Pendleton wool, London Fog, etc, although Grace considered most of them to be "old lady" clothes.  She picked out what she liked of it while we socialized with our friend, and we packed Trekkie full and used the new rooftop carrier for the first time.  On the way home, I sideswiped a deer!  It was beside the road and started to walk away, then turned back onto the road just as we got to it.  Thump!  We stopped and walked back to look for it, but it was gone.  Surprisingly, my new car didn't get even a scratch!
My house is 99 years old, and the furnace is about 50 years old.  I've had it fixed a few times as needed, but 10 days ago it broke down again.  I had about 7 HVAC companies come in to estimate replacing it and finally chose one of them.  They set a date about 10 days from now to do the job, so in the meantime we have been burning the woodstove all day and night.  Several of my friends have offered more firewood!
Today I went to see the free movie at the Grandin, Thunder Road.  I saw that when I was a kid and I've been singing the song for the past 2 days.  Afterwards, I went up to Black Dog Salvage where my friend set up a table selling her bagles and got almost the last ones there. Now it's snowing but not as much is predicted as we got in December.  Grace and I went sledding at Woodrow Wilson then.
