Haven't posted in weeks! I drove to Raleigh on Tuesday the 30th and Grace & I went to the Rolling Stones concert. We walked from her apartment to the stadium - that was a long hike! Good concert, I'd never seen them. We discovered a cheap movie theater on the way that shows first-run movies and went to that the next day, then ate at a Chinese buffet.
Lois & I went to Carolyn's house in CT in early July for a week and hung around with Karen & Dave & Lindsay, who is 14 months old. She is super-cute! We took a day trip to Newport RI and saw people waiting in line to tour a tall ship that was visiting there, Hermione. We walked around the fort and ate ice cream in a parlor. Friday night, Rebecca arrived; she went to a conference in NYC and came up on the train afterwards. Saturday, Lois & R & K & I all went yard saling. We went to their church on Sunday. R left in the morning and Amitai & Jonah arrived in the afternoon, and we all went out for Mexican. They had been to ConnectiCon in Hartford for the weekend. Lo & I drove home Monday. Long trip!
I've been working on the house gradually - got the desk all uncovered and arranged the office supplies under the computer desk. I mowed grass and pulled a bunch of vines out of the raspberry bushes. The garden is producing tomatoes and lots of butternut squash.
C took me to dinner at the Thai restaurant downtown and the M crowd went to Jimmy V's on Brandon. Friday (yesterday) I went to Ann's house and she and another friend & I priced a bunch of odds & ends to sell in her yard sale. She is moving to Norfolk, boo-hoo! Then I started on putting together the latest frame for the screen tent over the pool. I got a drill bit that will get through the galvanized pipes and assembled them all onto the hub. I've set a goal to get that thing DONE, preferably by the end of the month. That means I have to work on it every day that is available.
Carolyn L from work brought over her cat, Zac, and now he is mine. He seems to be settling in, although I lock him in the kitchen every night and barricade off the upstairs.
Some yard sale acquisitions are: 4 Star Trek dolls from Insurrection, a star to put on the porch wall, a camping table, a rice cooker, and a new freezer! This one is smaller than the chest freezer and is a dorm-sized upright. Some of the stuff in the chest freezer is years old because it gets buried in there. I just know the new one is going to get piled up with clutter (as Momma said, "any horizontal surface") because I won't have to clear it off to open the lid.
