Games I played this week:
CoD5: World at War. Is it me, or are the multiplayer levels too large? They feel flabby compared to the small, action-heavy CoD4 levels. I'm not 100% happy with some of the single-player maps for that matter and I was cursing my way through the hard-as-nails Pelieu Island level. Took me the best part of a hour to clear out one particularly nasty tunnel.
Borderlands. I played four-player co-op this week and like all co-op games there were bits that were fun and plenty that sucked. The loot system is buggered in co-op, as there is a tendency to hoover up ammo that your colleagues need. The balancing sucks too. We were getting pwned by the boss Bonehead while being told that we should be able to take him easy.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Only just started this, but I already want to punch all the characters in the face. There is an excess of anime cute going on in this tale of explorers crashed on a distant planet. Fortunately, the gameplay is rocking with a lot of depth to the active battle system. This'll tide me over until the next Final Fantasy, which will be fucking brilliant, as all FFs are.
