The experiments are coming along nicely, I think.
I was recently approached by a strange fellow during a visit to the Leaky Cauldron (I had only a glass of water, mind you); rather odd chap-- I'm almost certain he was not from any Department that I know of-- a bit dodgy, wore a cloak and such. I personally didn't think much of him until he traipsed over and offered to buy me a drink, much to my utter bewilderment. Being that it would have been quite inhospitable of me to refuse, I thanked him and accepted, assuming I would polish it off quickly and be on my way before anything shiftier could occur. However, this man-- an older fellow-- proceeded to ask whether I was indeed the person who he vaguely recalled seeing in the Prophet at some point, to which I hesitantly replied that yes, perhaps I was. After hearing this, he continued on, asking me questions about the Project and whatnot, though of course I declined to share such sensitive information with someone who only claimed to be from the Ministry of Magic. (He never did show me any credentials on paper, which I'll admit I did find disdainfully lacking in decorum, if not suspicious.) Following my growing unease with the situation at hand, I finished off what ended up being my second drink, excused myself, and told him that I really must be off, although I admit that was a bit of a stretch. However, I did think it would be more prudent to let such a tiny exaggeration slip than to continue on in this manner, as this man obviously held no respect for important matters such as security and personal privacy.
Consequently, after apparating home, I noticed upon checking with my various schedules that I had an appointment at the optometrist come the next day (it was by this time Thursday evening). I generally endeavour to book these appointments at monthly intervals, so you can imagine my surprise when I realised that I had forgotten all about this appointment! I suppose I may have had far too many other things on my mind, although that is obviously still no excuse for neglecting to remember such a thing. Fortunately, I did manage to arrive at my appointment Friday evening with time to spare, had my usual checkup, then proceeded to discuss various optical health related matters with the healer who runs the practice.
Apparently, the astigmatism I've had for years has gotten a trifle worse, though I was told that a prescription adjustment might do well to remedy this. Being quite nearsighted in addition to my astigmatism (this being the result of both hereditary factors and an injury sustained at the hands of certain people some years ago), I quite naturally complied with this, as problems with my spectacles never fail to cause unnecessary migraines and decreased productivity. I do wish there were alternatives to such constant hassle-- is it true that muggles actually have plausible solutions to this?
At any rate, I suppose all I can do at this point is research such a topic, though I daresay I have little optimism for such a cure as it stands.
