After I said goodbye to Valkyrie, I headed home, thinking about the rather full day I'd had. My conversation with Valkyrie had better than I'd feared, though perhaps not as well as I'd hoped, but in general things seemed to be in a good state on that front, and I let myself be happy with that.
Coraline, though... Her reaction had thrown me, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. And though I suspected that talking to her was a sure-fire way to give myself an earful, the more I thought about things, the more I suspected that I needed to talk to her, to clear the decks, as it were.
It was more by luck than design that I saw her walking down the street. I picked up the pace to catch up, and called out to her. "Coraline! Hey, Coraline, wait up!"
